Aside from the novels and short stories listed elsewhere on my website, what else have I written?
I write across a few different genres and in many forms. I’ll try to keep this list up to date, and add things as I remember them, but some of my publishing credits to date include:
The Pianist, April 2022
This was my first entry into a 7-Day Writing Challenge. My genre was Magic Realism, and the theme was ‘A Twist of Fate’. My entry made the longlist in its genre, but the winner was someone in my writing group. (Winners page here: Globe Soup)
Where the Heart Is, March 15 2022, Women Writers, Women’s Books
A creative non-fiction piece about home, home-sickness, and belonging. This theme is touched on in my novels. Read this article here: Where the Heart Is
Seventy-Four Days in Wuhan, February 2022
I wrote this piece as part of my MA. It was originally a 500-word story, but I had to reduce it to submit it to the Bath Flash Fiction Contest. In its new, 300-word form, it made the longlist in February 2022 (Winner’s page here)
The Quest for Ideas, January 15 2022, Women Writers, Women’s Books
A creative non-fiction piece about finding ideas for stories in the everyday and through the students I work with in my role as an ESL teacher. Read this article here: The Quest for Ideas
Crossroads, August 20 2018, Retreat West
This piece was a runner-up in a Retreat West Flash competition, inspired by a photo. The winner was someone from my writing group. Read my entry here: Crossroads
She Called it Mauve, July 31 2018, Retreat West
This flash fiction piece is based on my grandmother, Mary. It was a runner-up in a Retreat West flash fiction competition in July 2018. Read it here: She Called it Mauve
While the Cherry Blossom Falls, July 2018, Writing Magazine
This piece was the winning entry in the Writing Magazine Creative non-fiction competition in July 2018. It is based on one of the most inspiring people I know; a heart surgeon from Japan. Read it here: While the Cherry Blossom Falls
Who Decides? June 2018, Zeroflash
This was a third-place winner in an online flash contest. Winners list here: Who Decides? (I can’t find a link to the actual piece atm)
Rock, Paper, Scissors, Love, May 2018, Zeroflash
This piece received a ‘Special Mention‘ in this online contest. Read it here: Rock, Paper, Scissors, Love (You have to scroll down a long way to find it – I was one of the last to submit I think)

This was the winning entry in the 2018 Grindstone’s Beta Testing Penny Competition. Each entry was 100 words.
